Post-workout Nutrition

One of the most common questions about nutrition is what to eat or take after an intense workout. Protein and complex carbohydrates are what should follow immediately after your workout. It would be ideal to consume a fast acting protein shake such as whey or hydrolyzed whey to quickly deliver aminos into your blood stream. This will help keep your body from going into the catabolic state where your muscle begins to waste away. Carbs would also be a great to help restore glycogen levels which have been depleted from your bodies demand for energy. Taken these immediately after workout will keep your hard earned muscle, and also help with recovery and repair.  You should also plan on eating a well rounded meal consisting of 3 parts carbs, 2 parts protein and 1 part fat to give your body a wholefood source of nutrients. Of course my favorite is chicken and rice!

N.O. Xplode NT Review

As a big fan of BSN I was excited to try the new formula for N.O Xplode. I had great success with the original formula...that was until I adapted to it and no longer felt the same intense energy rush and insane pumps. I must say that I like the convenience of the "stix" or the cool aide style packets it comes in now. I can't count how many times I had to try and rig a funnel out some papers usually spilling most of the contents. After my first dose of N.O. Xplode NT I could tell it was going to hit me hard. The taste is definitely a little bit stronger but nothing that can't be solved with a quick chug. The warm tingly feeling came quick and was hitting the weights like a mad man in no time. I have to say the beta alanine is at higher dose and led to a strong tingly sensation while I was running but it did shave off a couple minutes from my 3 mile run. Overall it is a step above the original formula and may be for the advanced lifters.
I would have to rate this an 8/10
